Recovering specific virtual disks

Thread needs solution

At the moment it appears that VMP7 only allows for an entire guest to be recovered. Is there any way to only recover specific virtual disks or partitions? For example, SERVER1 has a two disks - C and D: is there any way to only recover the C: drive? Otherwise I have to restore an entire 500 GB server just to get the 60 GB C: drive.

File Recovery does not work in this case.

Also, is it possible to specify the name of the restored guest? Having the long format date as part of the VM name is not very tidy.

Hello Andrew!

Thank you for using Acronis sfotware.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to restore just 1 disk or partitions. If "File Recovery" does not apply to your purpose, then I can suggest you to mount the Virtual Machine backed up and run it. With this you can specify the mounted virtual machine name.

I took note of this idea and I will request this feature for future editions of our products.

If there is anything else i can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you, have a good day.

Hi Miguel,

has this feature ever been added to vmProtect?

Thanks

Hi ece,

This feature (recovery of separate disks/volumes from entire VM backup) is pending to be added in the next version of Acronis Backup for VMware (likely in one of first updates) which we plan to release next year.

Thank you.
