How to validate only full backups (monthly), not incremental or differential.

Thread needs solution

In v 11.7 I could set the backup plan to validate only the full monthly backups.  In 12.5 it appears I can only turn validation on or off, with no setting to backup just the monthly full backup.

I see there is an option to create a validation plan, but it also has no option to validate only the monthly backup.

Has this option been removed to select which backups to validate, or how can I create/select that validation?

Hello,

It is currently not possible to select only the full backup for validation. This functionality is being reworked and will be available in a future update. The internal reference is ABR-134525.

Hi Igor. Any ideas when we will see this functionality returned to 12.5 ABR ? We really need it back asap! :)

Hello Chris!

Doesn't validate last backup solve that problem? Set it to validate last backup and a schedule that follows your full backup schedule.

Peter, I hadn't realized but the feature has already been added back in. You can create a separate validation plan without performing a backup beforehand. :)

Hello Cris Gorringe,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

This feature still has not been implemented "as it was in 11.7" but it could be workarounded as Peter described.

You can create a separate validation plan without performing a backup beforehand. :)

You are talking about Off-host data processing (mini-plans) which are available with an Advanced type of a license where you can create independently from backup creation plans for validation, replication, cleanup, and conversion.

Hi Maria

Thanks for this but I must be getting confused. Have a look at the attached file. :)

This does exactly what I thought we originally had but am I wrong?

Doing a validation as part of the backup plan isn't a bad idea at all but doing a separate validation is also a requirement for audit purposes.

Hello Chris,

the option now allows either validating all backups in the chain or the last backup only https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisCyberBackup_…, but it is still not possible to select only full backups for validation like it was in 11.7
