Problems Backing VM's on ESXi

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I've got some issues Backup up my VM's on one of my ESXi 6.0 hosts, With Acronis varying the error message reported each backup attempt.  Sometimes i get

"Error code 3 - Operating system error: Resource temporarily unavailable" or sometimes i states that it has issues writing the snapshot.

I've logged a support case back on 25th Feb, but so far Acronis support has been less than helpful.

I know my Network is fine, as i have performed extensive testing from the from the ESXi host as well as using my Fluke Network Meter.  I also know the storage is fine, as i have 150+ other servers backing up to the exact same share / location without any issues.

Things I've tried So far:

Shutdown all VM's & Rebooted ESXi Host

Deleted & Redeployed the agent to the ESXi Host.

Deleted & Recreated the backup location within Acronis.

Manually tested large file transfers from VM's to storage share (e.g. 30gb mix of small & large files) without issues

Tested network connection with Fluke meter and software based monitoring and 0% packetloss on network.

Scanned disks on VM hosts - no error or fault on array.

Manual Vmware Snapshots work perfectly.

Any other suggestions of things that i could possibly test would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Richard.

Hello Richard,

welcome to Acronis forums!

Could you please share with us a full activity log with this error message?

Please check the following:

- if there is no network connectivity issue;
- exclude dynamic volumes from this backup;
- create a backup plan with the same parameters but Version 11 backup format
