retention not working
I don't know if this question should go in the "Acronis Backup 11.7" section of "Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5" since my product says it's called "Acronis Backup Advanced 12.5" but there is no such forum.
I have a simplest backup plan of "full" only with "single rule" retention of 1 week. However, the old backups do not get deleted and I'm looking at backups almost a month old still being there. I have to delete the files manually.

thank you for your posting! Did you see any warnings or error messages in the Activities of the task in question? What is the storage location? Any change the target location is being rotated withing the single backup plan? Did you try creating a new task?
No warning, the backups succeed, old ones are not removed. No changes in months and this is a daily job. Storage is a NAS.

Hello Peter!
Acronis Backup has been recently renamed to Acronis Cyber Backup, if you update to some recent version it should call itself so.
That being said what build are you using? Can you export and share the plan you have problems with?

Hello Peter L,
thank you for posting on Acronis forums!
Could you please share with us more details on your backup planб especially the periods of creating full and incrementals?

Hello Peter L.
Thank you for providing your backup plan details.
So, you create only full backups from Monday to Friday and delete backups older than a week.
Please also share with us screenshots how your backup chain is displayed in Acronis Management Console and Windows Explorer.

I don't know what you mean by "backup chain" but here is the latest job that says it succeeded deleting but yet you can see backup files two weeks old. There was months old jobs that I already deleted manually.

Hello Peter.
By backup chain I meant the list of backups as on your 553896-204868.png. I also need such a screenshot from Acronis Management Console for comparison. Please navigate to a backup location and make a screenshot with a list of backups there.
At this step, I suggest that you change the retention rule from "Delete older than 1 week" to "7 days".

That shows only 5 backup in the chain. Is it possible that it won't delete backup files taken before the retention period was activated? I only did that recently while the previous admin was deleting them manually.

Hello Peter.
There was a problem in old builds that if the first .tibx file in a chain is deleted, the retention rules could stop working.
If it is the issue, please create in this backup location an empty file with the name almost equal to your backups but without the latest suffix, i.e. XXXXXXXX-...-9285-4C1C27874172A.tibx
We also recommend updating all Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 to the latest available build.

I don't understand what you mean how the file should be named. The files in the chain are named:
server1.domain.local-52D6FEC8-57F1-4C5F-B2A7-51D366921371-E46E8291-EAF8-443F-9285-4C1C27B74172A-0198.tibx
How should the empty file be named?
