CPHO 40901 has stopped backing up Google drive files

Thread needs solution

It seems that Cyber Protect has stopped backing any files or folders that I add to my google drive.  I've been using this feature for several years with no issues.  I think the problem started with build 40901.

There is no error message generated. The backup completes successfully.  Any folder/file I add to the google drive is simply ignored.

Anyone else having a similar issue?

David, I have not seen anyone else reporting any issues with backing up Google Drive content in the forums but have a question for you?

Which syncing option in Google Drive are you using?  Stream files or Mirror files?

If you are using the Stream files option then I would not expect Acronis to be able to backup your files / folders unless they have been set for offline access as it does not process reparse points to follow these to the remote files location.

Steve,

I'm using Stream files. This used to work as I have files from the google drive on the .tibx file.  Has something changed?

I only found out out I had a problem after an unfortunate file mix up caused by me. When I went to recover from Fridays backup is when I discover that there was no file available. In fact, several weeks of files that are on the PC and google drive are missing from the backup.  I was not aware there was any issue as I got no error message just my daily mail telling me successful backup.  I don't know how long I could go unaware.

David, Acronis has not been backing up cloud based files for a very long time, only files which are stored locally.  Typically this has surfaced mainly with Microsoft OneDrive more than other cloud services but the principle remains the same.

See KB 61362: Acronis True Image: Error when backing up or recovering OneDrive folder

You may need to open a support case direct with Acronis to get a full definition of how Acronis handles non-local files stored via cloud services.

Steve, Interesting.  As a test I changed my google drive to mirror files. I'll run this way for a while and see what happens. It's going to take some time to sync everything.
