downgrade to Windows 10 using Acronis backup

Thread needs solution

I updated my PC to Win11 and HATE it. I'm having trouble downgrading to Win10 (with Microsoft's help), but I did do a full Acronis backup before the upgrade. If I restore that backup, will it revert to Win10?

Jerry, welcome to these public User Forums.

If your backup was created before the upgrade then yes, restoring it will bring you back to how the system was before the upgrade.

Normally, if you are still less than 10 days since the upgrade you should be able to roll back to the previous OS but if after 10 days then the C:\Windows.old folder is cleared!

You should ensure that you have created the Acronis 'Simple' rescue media and tested booting the PC with this plus would be a good idea to also make a new backup of Win 11 for good measure as a safety net in case the Win 10 recovery has issues!  Put the Win 11 backup in a different folder or drive to the one of Win 10.

You should also run CHKDSK on your C: drive for good measure to ensure that there are no latent file system issues at work.
