Remove SYSTEM partition H:

Thread needs solution

I just bought Acronis Cyber Home.

Prior to installing it, my main SSD had three partititions C: (windows), D: (hp_tools) and E: (hp_recovery).

After installing it my first action was to create a Rescue USB media. I put in a 1GB stick, and it tried to create rescue media on that stick; but it failed (maybe the stick capacity was too small?)

Now after doing the above, it seems to have created an extra partition H: at the start of the SSD drive so I now have H: (system) , C: (windows), and D: and E: as above.

I think this extra H: partition is not required (??) so I would like to remove it again. But I don't want to break the others. Nor make the SSD unbootable.

---

EDIT: I think there would always have been a hidden partition at the start of the disk containing the boot record. But whereas before it was a hidden partition without a drive letter or drive name, it now actually appears in my system as a drive H: with the drive name SYSTEM.

Andrew, some comments to offer here:

USB rescue media for ACPHO needs to be a minimum of 2GB size up to a maximum of 32GB.

Creating rescue media should not have any impact on the partitions on your Windows OS SSD and should never cause any new partitions to be created on that drive.

What I suspect you may be seeing is the EFI System partition being given a drive letter of H: for some reason, and if so, then you must not attempt to remove that partition as your system will be unbootable if you do!

The EFI System partition should be around 260MB in size though this could be as much as 500MB and holds important boot configuration information.

Hello Andrew,

The B.media has no interference with partitions of the OS.

Please raise a ticket with our support, providing evidential proofs such as screenshots step by step and the system report, so we can analyze the issue: https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153

Best regards.
