True Image 2021 error 0x1480006: invalid video framebuffer parameters

Thread solved

Hello everyone,

I am having the following issue with Acronis True Image 2021. OS: Windows 10 Pro
Installing it on the computer works fine, also doing the backup to an USB Drive.
The intention is to use that backup and restore it on a new Computer.
For that I want to use the Universal Restore feature.

The new Computer is a HP 250 G8 Laptop.
Unfortunately when trying to boot I run into the error
error 0x1480006: invalid video framebuffer parameters.

Steps I tried:
* disabled as good as possible the security features on the BIOS. But: there is no legacy mode anymore available on that machine.
* Win RE boot media is not working
* Win PE boot media boots, and I can start restoring, but at some point it just again spits out an error occurred. No details which error.

As you might figure out, I already have found some solutions, but none of them work currently.
And to be honest, I am also already disappointed that this error still exist. Seems its pretty old and stil not addressed properly.

Anyway, any help is much appreciated.

Thanks and regards,
Brian

Brian, welcome to these public User Forums.

The invalid video framebuffer is an issue that is often associated with either using Linux based rescue media, or else when media is used on a system with two different video adapters.

See forum topic:  invalid video framebuffer parameters

and topic: Video mode setup error: Error 0x1480006 - HP ProBook 450 G4

For those having this issue, I disabled the "Above 4G Decoding" option within the BIOS and was able to load just fine.

This issue only seems to happen when using UEFI/GPT whereas Legacy/MBR has yet to cause this issue.
