True Image for WD: tib.sys driver missing for new install

Thread needs solution

I'm a WD customer who is attempting to install True Image for WD via the embedded link in the WD software. Apparently an updated driver is needed per the Microsoft error message.. Where can I find this driver?

Mike, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to all OEM versions of ATI supplied with hardware purchases.

If you have Windows Core Isolation enabled then this will object to the Acronis tib.sys driver, so you would need to disable this feature to install Acronis then see below!

This is a known issue and only resolved by Acronis in build 40107 or later of Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office which now offers a Custom Install option where users can now elect not to install the 'Try&Decide tool' feature (which brings the tib.sys driver to Windows).

For users of older versions of Acronis, see forum topic: Incompatible Driver(s): tib.sys? | Acronis Forum for information on how to circumvent the issue by renaming tib.sys to such as tib.~sys or by removing the associated registry entry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\tib

Note: you may need to do a Safe mode start of Windows to action the above options.

Hello everyone!

Regarding the installation error for Acronis True Image for WD, it's advisable to contact Acronis support for assistance. Apparently there is a known issue for that version, but we need to troubleshoot it in order to confirm.

When contacting support, it can be helpful to provide them with screenshots of any error messages you received during the installation process and any relevant logs, such as the .msi log, to help them diagnose the issue more effectively. The support team will be able to provide you with more specific instructions on how to resolve the issue and get Acronis True Image for WD installed on your system. https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153
