Trueimage backup/restore + VeraCrypt - advise

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I installed win11 with trueimage 2019; then i installed Veracrypt and setup full drive encryption.

After that I made a full drive backup to my NAS. For a testing purposes i deleted whole drive;

1) booted pc using Rescue media builder

2) restore -> selected files from NAS

3) system got restored; windows booted;

but it was not encrpyted anymore; seems only VeraCrypt boot loader remained there;

4)i opened veracrypt -> system -> permanently decrypt system drive, then restart.

System booted okay;

5) so i recreated full system encryption again via Veracrpyt

6) reboot; password prompt of vera ; windows 11 booted fine

May I ask if thats correct process of the whole system restore? I need to be ready if something happen with drive/ software coruption/ hw issue etc...

To be ready restore whole system where i end up...

Appreciate so much!

John, when you create any disk backup from within running Windows, then encryption is unlocked and will not be included in the backup as Acronis 'doesn't see it'!

See KB 62662: Acronis True Image and BitLocker FAQ

and KB 56619: Acronis True Image: compatibility with BitLocker

Although the above only refer to BitLocker, the principles remain the same for VeraCrypt or other encryption programs.
