Speed of latest version

Thread needs solution

I'm using TI 2020 with incremental backups. When I need a file from a previous date, it takes at least 35 minutes from the time I click the recover link to when I can choose the file I need.  I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if TI 2021 is faster at recovering from backups.

Sorry but more information is needed to understand why you are seeing such slow performance?

What type of backup is involved?  Is it a Files & Folders backup or is it a Disks & Partitions one?
This makes a difference as different backup files are involved, i.e. .TIB for a F&F and .TIBX for a D&P.  Plus with .TIB files, incremental 'slices' are stored in separate .tib files but are consolidated within .TIBX backup files.

What depth of nesting is involved for these backups?
Typically, the deeper the nesting of files & folders, the slower this is for navigating and recovery.

Speaking personally, I see no difference in performance between ATI 2020 and 2021 - the latter could potentially be a little slower due to the added involvement of Acronis Cyber Protection features if enabled.

See KB 63240: Acronis True Image 2020: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) - and scroll down the document to the section showing how to open .tibx or .tib files in Explorer by double-clicking on the files.

This is a files and folders backup. And from your description it sounds like the problem is that there are just too many of them. The backup is done daily and there are many nested files. I leave the backups on the disk for about 6 months. I thought there would be a master index table just containing the backup dates so selecting one would only take a few seconds. But it sounds like they are reading through every one and that just takes a long time.

I tried going directly to the file in the article you mentioned. But it was still searching the files after 20 minutes so I aborted it.

I used to create a new backup each month. That is faster when restoring but uses a lot more disk space.

Thanks for letting me know about the speed. I will stick with this version for now.
