Many thanks for your posting.
I have traced the problem back to a long-standing Acronis problem - which is that you get problems if you try to install an older Acronis product onto a machine which already has a newer Acronis product installed.
In this case, the machine had Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.7 installed when I tried to install Acronis Disk Director 11 - and the installation failed, as described.
The solution is to uninstall every Acronis product from the machine - I used the normal uninstall methods but you, also, have to use abr_cleanup_h to make sure. And then re-install everything, starting with the oldest product, in this case Acronis Disk Director 11, and finishing with the most recent, in this case Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.7.
The installations then worked and Acronis Disk Director started and ran under Windows 10.
However, it wouldn't Manage this Machine (which is usually what you want Disk Director to do) - the option was disabled.
I traced the problem to the Acronis Disk Management Service, which won't start - it gives error message
"1075: the Dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion".
As yet, I have found no way around this and would be interested in any suggestions.

Hello Chris,
thank you for sharing your troubleshooting steps! Did you upgrade Acronis Disk Director 11 to 12.5? If the version 11 is installed on Windows 10, it's a compatibility issue, v11 does not support Win 10.
