Disk Director 10 and 11 with Windows 7 64bit
Hello,
I've just installed DD10 on a Windows 7 64bit PC which has a 1TB hdd. The C drive takes up most of this as it is a new machine with pre-installed OS. I've tried resizing C: but although DD10 goes through the motions it doesn't resize the partition.
I can't test DD11 because the drive is too big for the demo version.
Can anyone confirm that DD11 will work on a 1TB hdd in Windows 7 64bit?
(DD10 does work on a 32bit Windows 7 machine!!)
Many thanks for your help.
Best Regards
Rod

MudCrab, Rod hasn't replied in a week so I thought I might insert a similar newbie question here rather than write a new post.
I'm setting up a brand new computer which has a terabyte drive with a single C partition. The bytes/sector value is 512. Windows7 64 bit.
I want to create a large partition for videos and photos only so I purchased DD 11 and installed it. Now, I'm afraid to use the product.
There's a warning that the drive I want to split is the Boot drive and that the pc may not run correctly afterwards if the files are moved.
I'll put off trying to partition the drive until I learn more. Of course the next thing I'll do is create a recovery disk. The computer didn't
come with any kind of recovery or Windows7 cd. Nothing. I downloaded DD 11. There's no DD 11 cd to use as you suggested.
Hope this little intrusion was ok. Thanks for your help. I searched through the archives going back to DD 10 before asking.
Best, Robert

If you log into your Acronis account and go to the software updates page, you can download the ISO for the latest version of DD11. Burn it to a CD, and there you go. When you purchase downloadable software, you have to make your own discs.

Robert,
Rather than splitting the existing partition, it's better to resize it smaller and then create a new partition in the unallocated space. The Split feature is one I don't recommend using since it can result in serious data loss if anything goes wrong.
In any case, it's recommended to create an Entire Disk Image backup before making partitioning changes.
