Disk Director - Merging raid disks

Hello,

I have a windows 2003 server with an undersized C drive, I want to merge it with teh largely empty d drive.

I'm thinking of purchasing disk director for the job but I have 2 questions first....

Does disk director require either of the disks to be merged to have a minimum amount of free disk space?

Can disk director handle raid volumes?

DD can handle standard RAID drives and partitions.

From the manual:
Free space requirements. The combined amount of free space on the main volume and on the other volume must be at least 5 percent of the size of data on the other volume. For example, if files and folders on the other volume occupy 100 GB, you need a combined total of 5 GB of free space, for example 2 GB on one volume and 3 GB on another.

Please note that I DO NOT RECOMMEND using the Merge (or Split) feature of DD. There is a very high chance of data loss on all partitions involved if anything goes wrong (and it does happen all too frequently). Make sure you have an Entire Disk Image backup before beginning.

I prefer to just copy the files manually and resize the partitions manually. It provides much more control over the process. In your case, since D: is already mostly empty, you could resize D: a little smaller, resize C: a little larger, copy the files from D: to C:, remove D:, then resize C: to fill the space.
