flash drive is write protected

Thread needs solution

One of my flash drives has become write protected. I was trying to use the disk editor to un write protect it. Does anyone know which bit needs to be set to unprotect it?
regedit and reformatting wouldn't work.

I assume it's not a flash drive with a physical read-only switch.

Does it not work to write to the flash drive from any OS or is it just Windows?

Have you tried doing a DISKPART "clean" on it?

Make sure to back up anything on the drive that's important before wiping/editing sectors or cleaning.

I usually just wipe the entire flash drive and reset it when they get screwed up. In the past, I've used the Linux "dd" command for this, but usually a DISKPART clean works well now.
