Linux OS Partition Recovery

Thread needs solution

Hi there, I would like to purchase Disk Director Suite 10 However I would like to know if anyone has successfully recovered data /restore a Linux Partition?

Sorry for asking this as this is mentioned on the back of the box but I want to be sure before purchasing this product.

Derrick:

I've successfully used Recovery Expert on Linux partitions. However, things have changed in the Linux world since the release of DD 10. Make sure that the partition you want to recover contains a supported file system. For example, ext2 and ext3 are supported, but not ext4. Some of the newer Linux distros are now using ext4. Additionally, inode sizes of 128 bytes or smaller are supported but not inode-256, which is used by the newer distros.

Finally, the Recovery Expert is designed to search unallocated space on the disk looking for evidence of a once-existing partition. If it finds one it will reconstruct a partition table entry for it. It is not file recovery software.

Hi KOLO,

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback. Your clear concise information will give me the best way to purchase and utilize DD 10 for Linux.
