OS Selector install where? ...on SSD Drive with Windows 7 or hidden system reserve partition

Thread needs solution

According to KB article:
http://kb.acronis.com/content/11373
"Acronis OS Selector can only be installed on a FAT16/FAT32/NTFS partition."

Instructions from Windows 7 forum suggest:
www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91339-ssd-hdd-optimize-windows-reinstalla…

"The reason for suggesting to create the System Reserved at 200MB instead of the new default of 100MB is an attempt to curb some of the issues we're now seeing with the partition being too small when dual/multi booting..."

Here is what I am doing:

I have two ssd drives, 240 GB and 120 GB. I am going to install Windows 7 as a primary OS and a secondary for now Ubuntu. Approximate set-up which does not include a raid set also:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Drive Drive Type File System New Space

240GB SSD Drive (Primary):
System Res. Local Disk ? (hidden) 200 MB
C: (Win7+Apps)Local Disk NTFS 90 GB
D: (DATA) Local Disk NTFS 90 GB
LX (Linux) Local Disk Ext3 40 GB

120GB SSD Drive (Secondary):
E: s(P-Win7) Local Disk NTFS 8 GB
F: s(SCRATCH) Local Disk NTFS 90 GB
G: s(SHARE-16) Local Disk FAT 2 GB
H: (SHARE-32) Local Disk FAT32 4 GB
LX s(Swap) Local Disk Ext3 8 GB

I: Optical Drive
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have 8 GB Ram, that is why my page/swap files are so. Anyway here is my question based on Acronis KB article above:

"Click Typical to install on the system partition, or Custom to install on a different partition:"

Would it make sense to install this to the hidden system reserve partition which I will make 200 MB rather then the Windows 7 partition if it falls into the rule (from the above Acronis KB article, which I assume it will) of being...

"Acronis OS Selector can only be installed on a FAT16/FAT32/NTFS partition"

...and will this install be able to see/assign the hidden system reserve partition, created earlier with the Windows 7 install, to install to?:

Technically, it should work. However, it probably won't. Acronis may have blocked installing OSS to the SRP. The normal minimum partition size OSS requires is around 100MB (it actually uses 5+MB). The problem is that it keeps saying there isn't room on the SRP. I've increased the size to just under 1GB and it still reports there's insufficient space.

I would recommend you install OSS on a partition that won't be defragged. I usually use a data partition or a shared partition (you have several of those). I generally don't recommend using the Windows partition because Windows is always moving files around and it often ends up breaking OSS. The partition used by OSS does not have to be on the booting drive.

Thanks for your input/insight.... I may just use my share -32 (fat 32) as I don't use it that often anyways, although it sounds like you have tried this before from your response "keeps saying there isn't any room...." I assume when you say it, you mean the OSS install right? I may try it also with the suggested 200 MB SRP and see if I get the same response.... and if so, your input helps me in looking to my fat 32 share instead.

That's correct. The "insufficient space" error is from trying to install OSS to the SRP.
