Questions about up-dating Disk Director
A few years back , I installed Acronis Disk Director 10.0.2160 on my Win XP Pro SP3 computer. I then successfully used Disk Director to create 5-partitions on my then new Seagate external H.D. .
I recently discovered that there are now updates available for Disk Director . And I read that you can install a up-date "over" a older version of Disk Director . So downloaded and attempted to install Build # 2288 , and I received a error message saying that a older version of Disk Director was detected and that I needed to UN-install the older build first.
So I went back to the Acronis web-site and discovered that there was a Build #2239 that was released prior to the latest up-date . And on the web-site , I also read ..................
" The latest update of an Acronis product can be installed over the existing version of the same product. "
Does this mean that before installing build #2288 , I should first install Build #2239 and then proceed to update to Build # 2288.
Or I could just completely UN-install # 10.0.2160 and then install Build # 2288. But I was concerned that I may have problems if I completely remove Disk Director from my machine before updating.
So of my 2-update options , what would be the best way, to get my copy of Disk Director, up to the latest build ?
Thanks.

Thanks for the tip. I UN-installed the older build and then installed the latest and all went well. But I did re-download the latest Dick Director build , because the first one I downloaded failed a MD5 hash check. The second download passed the test.

Colin B wrote:In theory you should be able to install over the top, but it is probably better to uninstall and then install the new build.
Don't forget the latest DD10 build will only install on XP and Vista systems. You will of course need your serial number handy.
Are you sure the version will install ONLY on XP and Vista?
I have just installed it on Windows 2000. There was an Acronis screen that said that the install was complete. The program loads and appears to work.
I cant see any documentation about DD10 latest build is not for 2000.

Colin possibly just meant that the latest builds of DD 10 wouldn't install in Windows 7.
As far as I know, DD 10 should install and work fine on Windows 2000. The manual shows it back to Windows NT 4.0 SP 6 and lists support for Windows 2000 Professional SP 4.

Indeed Mudcrab is correct, I didn't even consider thinking about W2K.
