Recovery Expert on a 500gb Seagate Barracuda

Hi and thanks for taking the time to read my post..

I used Vista's Disk Management to extend the main volume on my internal HD by 40gb, taking the previously used space that I used for a dual boot.

(Note that this drive is NOT my main OS drive.)

But it said something about it needs to be turned into dynamic and then when it was done, it had 2 volumes both coloured yellow inside disk management. So I clicked the small one and deleted it.. but it deleted both volumes too.
I am not really sure what happened, I should have been more careful.. brain fart moment!

Anyway I used recovery expert to try get the volume(s) back but it can't even find any.

Automatic took about 30 mins and found nothing.

Then I tried manual > fast scan on the barracuda overnight and when I got up it was still 0% progress so cancelled it and tried a complete scan and that seems to be doing the same thing.

How long should it take for a 500gb internal SATA2 barracuda?

It seems to be bugged to me because the progress bar keeps getting to like 8 ish % and then resetting back to zero. Is that normal?
