Resizing C in Windows 10

Thread needs solution

My C drive size is 118 GB and there also is 465 GB of unallocated space on the disk. However, I cannot resize C to use the unallocated space. The KB has nothing on this so I must be making a simple mistake.

I've attached a screenshot of the disk layout. Any advice appreciated.

Hi,

A basic volume cannot occupy more than one disk. For more information please refer to 3.1 Basic and dynamic disks of the attached userguide.

Hi - But I have only one disk. I want to expand C to use all 500 GB on that disk. Right now, C is only 118 GB.

Thank you for your reply! There are definitely two drives on your screenshot, a smaller one (apparently an SSD) with the OS installed and a new one with the unallocated space. I would suggest to leave the drives are, use faster SSD for the needs of the OS only and the second drive can hold data\other apps.

Yes, you are right and I'm eating crow over it. Sorry for showing how ignorant I have become.

No worries! We all learn something new here! Have you decided how to use the second drive?
