[Solved] Acronis Disk Director 12 recovery of "Not Formatted" partition
Hi, everyone,
After resizing of partitions failed one resized partition is marked as "Not Formatted". I tried to use Recovery from Disk Director bootable CD but to no avail. Are there any other options? Is Recovery in Disk Director the most suitable software for this? For example recovery is available in True Image, maybe it will help?
Thanks,
Viacheslav
Solution: Use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard to recover "Not Formatted" or do quick format and use it afterwards. Unfortunately Acronis DD12 lacks this functionality.

Tried to use testdisk in linux to fix NTFS boot sector - scanned whole partition and did not find MFT.
It seems that Active partition recovery has this functionality. Their Demo LiveCD found Primary Boot Sector and Copy Boot Sector which were not found by Acronis DD12 or testdisk. Strangely enough software algorithms that work with hard drives are still in their infancy.
Update: it turns out that Active Partition Recovery mostly provides graphical interface over ntfsprogs/ntfs-3g packages. ntfsfix recovered PBS of my partition. Then I tried to mount hoping it will list but mount.ntfs-3g said that drive was inconsistent and that I should run chkdsk /f. I did in Windows recovery dvd but chkdsk refused to work saying it's unable to determine volume version and state. I also read somewhere that doing quick format might restore volume and leave data untouched.

I tried EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard and it sucessfully found files after quick format. So if anyone having trouble with Not Formatted partitions that is the way. Use Data Recovery Wizard either before quick format or after.
