Very slow check volume process
Hello. I have a 2TB external Western Digital Mybook HDD. Overnight, it would'nt work. The thing is I cannot access to it from Windows 7 (nor XP, which I tried), but I browsed through it with Acronis Disk Director and I could see all my files are in there (mostly physical films backups and lots of InDesign files).
Acronis Disk Director finds the partition (G) and says it's healthy, but Windows won't have access to it and says it needs formatting.
When I used the Recovery Expert tool, I got the message of several damaged sectors.
I am running the Acronis Disk Director Check function, with the repair options checked. The external HDD has 68.224 files (the HDD was full of files): it's been 7 hours from the beginnning of the check process and the software has only processed 671 files by now. The percentage is 12% from almost the very beginning of the check process, which seems to contradict the fact that only 6 out of 100 files have been processed (671/68.224).
At this rate, it could take a whole month. Is there any other way to get those 2TB of data back?
I am using Acronis Disk Director 11 Home.
Thank you very much,
Pep

Thank you very much! I will get diagnostic tools for this HDD model. I already cancelled the chkdsk.
