Always had this.

I have 3 disks:
1. WD 5001AALS Black Editon 500Gb
2. WD 6400AAKS Blue Edition 640Gb
3. WD 20EARS Green Edition 2TB 4K sectors.

On each of these disks on XP and 7 when right clicking and selecting Edit Volume (the last option on the column) DD hangs and a report is generated on XP.
It also happens on IDE or with AHCI controller.
