The program said my LaCie External drive was not a Smart drive. I clicked on the option to stop monitoring it. Now it is not recognized at all anywhere. I have uninstalled Drive monitor with a system reinstall trying to get the drive back. My Acronis Backups are on the lost drive.

Does your OS warn you that your drive has become corrupted and unreadable? If you have Disk Director 11, try running that. If your drive shows up, and the partition also shows up (although with a warning), run the disk check in Disk Director. Be warned, though. If the corruption is severe, there's a chance that the disk check may turn some of those retrieved files into .CHK files. For files that have vanished, you may have to use an UNDELETE program (Advanced System Optimizer has such a program) to retrieve those files.
