Acronis Snap Deploy 5 - Build 1780 Installation Issues

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

Recently purchased this software to assist in rolling out new PC deployments however I'm having some real issues trying to actually get the software installed.

It keeps failing trying to install the Deployment Server module with error 1603 fatal error during installation.

We have attempted to install this software on 3 different OS servers all with the same result (2003/2008 & Windows 10)

We have checked all the usual 1603 error issues surrounding permissions etc with no success.

Is there anything that I am missing here, the install logs don't really tell me anything that I can find meaningful.

The only thing that I can think that may be an issue is that we already use Acronis Backup V12 on the vast majority of our estate and I was wondering if we Snap Deploy can be installed on the same machines as the Acronis Backup software?

Any help in providing a solution would be much appreciated.

In the interim, I am currently downloading build 1761, just to see if its just the latest version that has an issue.

Hello Duncan,

Indeed, there might be issues when Acronis Backup and Acronis Snap Deploy are on the same machine, please refer to https://kb.acronis.com/content/60878

I'd also suggest using 1761, as this version contains fixes not available in the official version yet (will be published with the next update)

Hi Ekaterina,

Although not ideal, I have removed the Acronis Backup Software from one of our less important servers and I can now install the Snap Deploy Software successfully using build 1761.

Do you know if this issue will be addressed in a future version of Snap Deploy.

Ideally we would still like to image this server using our existing Acronis Backup Centralized software going forward, but for the purpose of this task we can do without that for now.

I assume however if required, we would still be able to image this server using the bootable media to take ad-hoc images if we ever needed to?

Hello Duncan,

I've passed your questions to the RnD and me colleagues confirmed that

Acronis Backup and Acronis Snap Deploy can be installed on one machine provided you use the following versions:

  • Acronis Backup 12.5 Build 11010 and later
  • Acronis Snapl Deploy 5 Build 1780 or later

https://kb.acronis.com/content/60878 was respectively updated.

If you only want to have this machine imaged (no management components like AMS, License Server), I'd try installing an Agent together with Snap Deploy components.

Please let me know, if installation has been successful.
