Automated methods for initiating Deployment Tasks

Thread needs solution

Is there any method(s) to initiate Deployment Tasks from outside of the Management console. I would like another process (on another server) to stimulate the online deployment process, for individual tasks (targeting single machines).

Effectively I would like some sort of remote control of tasks, outside of a time based schedule.

Also, can anyone confirm or deny whether Snap Deploy 5 will allow images to be kept on the target machines local volumes (or disks)? I had a reply from support that said yes, but never clarified how. So if the answer is yes, id love to know how to implement this.

Richard, to my knowledge, this is not possible in an automated solution as the deployment server is licensed and you need a license for each deployment server.

You can store images anywhere you like - another server share, a USB drive, another drive on a system (I would not store it on the OS drive though).

In these cases, although not automated, you can use the offline bootable recovery media to create images (image creator) or deploy them (stand-a-lone utility).  Both of these utilities can create an image to local hardware or network shares (when given the correct authentication), and likewise can deploy the image in the same fashion.  If you have hands on access to systems, this will work great.  As for automation, though, I believe you're limited the deployment server only.

Hello,

It is possible to initiate deployment outside of the Management Console using Standalone utility only. There is no way to start online deployment outside of the Management console.

Best regards.

Thanks guys this is much appreciated, and I was talking to the support team as well. I suspected that was the answer, but just wanted confirmation, incase I was missing something.

FYI our use-case is to have a Software Build Server notify ASD 5 that it has completed its jobs and can now initiate n-deployment tasks to n-machines.

Best Regards,
