Hang on Reboot and Doesn't Join Domain

Thread needs solution

I have a new install of Snap Deploy from an SBS 2003 server. The target machines are Dell Vostro 200s. On my first try at deploying an image from the same machine the image was taken from, the machine hung at the "The system is being configured with specified deployment..." screen. After the red X appeared, I was able to close it and the machine continued with it's reboot. After the reboot, I was not able to log on to the domain. I changed my template to include a local admin account and after deploying again, I was able to log on to the machine, but had to join the domain manually. The domain looks to be entered correctly in the template. The SID is set to changed in the template. Any ideas on what's causing the hangup and inability to do a domain login after the image is pushed?

Dear Drew!

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here! I understand your concern and will be glad to assist you.

The issue is caused by the OS Patcher glitch. OS Patcher runs right after the deployment is finished, and it's responsible for assigning all the updates to the OS including domain and computer name, etc. Unfortunately due to the lack of sufficient diagnostic information it is impossible to identify the exact cause of the problem, so this situation requires investigation.

Please gather the following information:

  1. Exact sequence of steps performed and whether you've used sysprep
  2. Acronis Info from the source machine
  3. OS Patcher logs
  4. OS Deploy Server logs
  5. Deployment Agent logs

After that please kindly contact support directly with the information attached. Keep in mind that should there be any procrastination with the reply, you can always specify us the case number. We will do our best to speed up the process.
