Help Configuring DHCP Software to Work with Snap Deploy PXE

Thread needs solution

Ok, this is what I would like to do and I have been pulling my hair out for the last week trying to get this dang thing configured. I am attempting to get my imaging off of my business network and onto my own personal network in my office. I have configured the Snap Deploy 4 PXE server and I have downloaded AND attempted to configure TFTPD32_SE Admin as well as DHCPSRVR2.3 to handle my DHCP client requests when they boot to PXE but I cannot get them configured correctly.

I can image fine when I am connected to my business network, but my troubles begin when I configure for my personal network.

I have googled, talked with Acronis support to no avail.

Any help/suggestions on the configuration wuold be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Frustrated Geek!!!

I've gotta ask...what good is a forum if no one is available to answer your questions?

I used a DHCP server called Tiny DHCP. Worked perfectly for me in the same scenario as you are describing. Why you haven't managed to get the two you mentioned to work is hard to say and this forum is probably not the place to ask that question.

Thanks for commenting Nils. I was able to resolve the issue by moving my images to the TFTPD folder on my share and then reinstalling the PXE components.

I know you are just a member but if this forum is not the place to ask these types of questions, then where? It deals with the Acronis product and DHCP and this is a user forum where you ask questions and try to gain useful advice.

Anyway, just my opinion!

Have a great day and thanks again for commenting.

Hello Michael and Nils,

Thank you for your comments and your help.

Michael, I am very sorry for the delay and if you have difficulties getting answers in the forum, you can always get help from our Support team.

I found your case in our system and our Support engineer requested additional diagnostic information from you to troubleshoot this issue.

Thank you for sharing your solution with our community, it will be helpful to others.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Why would you have to use a third party software to get DHCP to work if you have a router configured to DHCP and a managed switch connected to it? Windows 7 obtains an IP through our network but Acronis does not although it does detect the MAC of the NIC.

If this is the way to go about things, an explanation would be appreciated. I don't see the need for running a software based DHCP server when the router is already set to serve DHCP addresses and is definitely working.

Thanks

My goal was to take the imaging off our our business network completely. I accomplished this by using a Netgear 8-port switch not connected to the network and hooked my Acronis PXE server to this switch. I then installed TFTPD32_SE Admin to control the DHCP. Works like a charm after I finally was able to figure out my issue with the configuration. Hope this makes sense.
