Acronis Build 5586 & Windows XP HE SP3 - crashes

Thread needs solution

Hi All and Support,

Acronis True Image 2016 Build 5586, takes over 5 minutes to install in Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3. Once installed, via the Clean Install Method of using msconfig, it is crashing the operating system with the Blue Screen of Death, attached.

None of the F8 functions for Safe Mode, gets me into the operating system. I get a Blue Screen of Death in Safe Mode as well.

The previous version of Acronis True Image 2016 Build 5518 worked and did not crash the operating system at all, even if taking over 5 minutes to install.

Now need to restore, sometime later today.

There are some devices that don't have Device Drivers for Windows 7 or 10, which is why people still have Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3, still available on their computers. One is the NetGear Storage Central Unit Model SC-101, that mounts Hard Drives to the operating system for XP.

Did you install it over an older version of ATI? If yes, which one?

Hi Pat L.

The Acronis True Image, actually did not cause the crash of Windows XP. I found the cause. It was uninstalling of NETGEAR Storage Central Manager Utility that crashed Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3. And could not get back into the operating system.

NETGEAR Storage Central Manager Utility was not finding any Hard Drives. And I thought by uninstalling and reinstalling the program, it would work. I just had to Restore any Image. That image has Acronis True Image 10 Home installed. I just left that program installed.

I had successfully removed that version and I had Acronis True Image 2015 Build 6133 installed. Removed that version and installed Acronis True Image 2016 5586 and it was taking over 20 minutes to install in Windows XP, and that it way too long. I do not use the Acronis Cloud at all. I never installed that with Acronis True Image 2012. I only used Local Backups.

Acronis True Image 2012 does not install in Windows 10 Pro 32-Bit or 64-Bit Builds.
