Acronis True Image 2016 - Clone disk terminates without an error
Hello,
I am trying to clone a new 1tb HDD from my existing 1tb HDD with Windows 10 64 bit installed.
Both are Western Digital drives.
I am aware that there are some problems if certain factors are not the same between the formatted drives.
Both the drives are installed internally, so there are no USB issues.
The only difference I can see when I look at the disk details is....
Bytes per Sector: C: 512 E: 512
Bytes per Physical Sector: C: 512 E: 4096
Bytes per Cluster: C: 4096 E: 4096
Bytes per File Record Segment: C: 1024 E:1024
So, the only difference is Bytes per Physical Sector.
Can anyone advise... Is this my problem? and any ideas how I can overcome it?
Appreciate any input.
Rgds

Hello GroverH,
Thanks for the reply.
I did read that somewhere, but as in my post, the differences seem to be in the Physical Sector sizing.
Is that the same as the Logical Sector sizing?
Can I reformat my hard drive change the Physical Sector size if that is what is required?

Hello GroverH,
I have checked my drives following your link, and both drives have show Bytes/Sector as 512.
So they appear to be the same...

Did you try your cloning when booted from the TI Recovery CD?
Is your old Windows formated as MBR or GPT disks?

I don't do cloning so maybe others can help.

Sorry, I see Grover already posted a link that has that video.

Hi, Thanks for the new posts..
Both drives are MBR.
As stated above, the only difference I can see is that the drives have a PHYSICAL sector size difference, LOGICAL sector sizes are the same.
And I am booting from a TI recovery USB drive.
Think I might go back to using Ghost as I never had these problems in the past...
However, I don't like to be beaten, so will carry on seeking a solution.

PS - I may be a novice on this forum, but have over 30 years of computer experience as my job entailed systems and programming before selling. But, as everyone knows, some systems and software/hardware change as soon as the latest is released, so I am always willing to learn.
