ATI 2016 doesn't seem to be doing anything when I try to validate.

Thread needs solution

When I try to validate a backup by right clicking on the file, how can I tell if ATI 2016 did anything at all? There is a green checkmark in front of "validate" on the popup menu for all my backups, whether or not I ever asked for them to be validated. Does that mean anything? It looks like a decorative icon to me. The particular file I'm trying to validate does not appear in the list of backups on the interface, which is why I wonder if there's something wrong with it. This is my first day with a reinstallation of ATI 2016. I had gotten fed up with it and uninstalled it several weeks ago. The backups on the list were made with the previous installation. Does anyone know whether the backup software (Acronis, I believe) that comes on WD or Seagate USB drives is reliable?)

The green check marks indicate that validation has been run and completed successfully.  If you wish to test a particualr backup file use Windows File Explorer to browse to the file and double click the file to open it.  You should be able to navaigate through the file and view all folders and files within the backup.  If you can do this then the backup file is restorable.

Thank you for replying. I'm not sure you are talking about the same green check mark I'm talking about. The one I mean is on the right-click menu where you can choose between validate and mount. I think I remember green check marks that appeared next to files on the interface list with the previous installation. Those were not there this time. In any case, it's all past tense by now. When I tried to reopen the program, I got the "unable to create a database message" that was the final straw that made me unistall before. As before, the program would not open, so I uninstalled again. Let me say, I've been using ATI since PowerQuest sold Partition Magic, which I had been using. So I've used 2007, 2009, 2012; purchased 2013, 2014, 2015, but never installed them because I didn't like the changes I saw. I would go back to 2012, but I see people have had trouble uninstalling it. I'm really sorry because I've reimaged my XP computer many times without a hitch and restored my data onto this Win7 computer easily enough. I don't know what I'm going to try next. Maybe Acronis will fix 2016 and put out a new build and I might try again.SimWa
