ATI is terminating .......

Thread needs solution

When I shut donw my computer (Win 10 and ATI 2016), I get this message very often on the screen :  Acronis True Image is terminating the current operation........

I still get this message even though I did not use ATI.   Please tell me what is going on?  Thanks.

I see it every now and again too, not just on my Windows 10 x64 Pro machine with ATIH 2016, but in previous Windows versions and ATIH versions in different combinations. Generally, it will wrap up in a minute or 2 (for me on on the rare occassions it does show up when shutting down) and then the system proceeds to shut down as intended.  Not ideal when you are trying to get away from the machine, but hasn't been too bad for me.

According to this Acronis KB article, seeing it every now and then is by design - as long as it does close out within about 2 minutes or lesss:

There are other forums in here with others having similar issues, but more frequently and with the message not going away.  I'd suggest reading this forum and disabling the 2 services at the end of the thread (especially if you are not using the cloud features) if you're in that situation and the problem persists.

Otherwise, you could always try to remove Acronis manually, run the 2015 cleanup tool (still don't have a proper one for 2016) and reinstall fresh and see if the problem persists or not with a re-install.

Acronis True Image 2015 Cleanup Utility

Last, this is just a hunch and something I have not tested, but I've heard about similar issues with other applicaitons becuase of contention over Microsofts VSS locking files.  Some have had luck disabling Windows backup and restore / system protection (Control Panel >>> System >>> System Protection>>> turn off Protection Settings).  The theory is that Acronis and Microsoft are contending for resources locking files for backups and by disabling system protection in Windows, that will allow other backup utilities, like Acronis, to function more efficiently since they may be using VSS as part of their backup scheme too.
