Backup does not start when the current source device is attached

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm using ATI 2016 for backing up to USB 3 attached harddrive once a week in the evening. Sometime it happens that the drive is not attached to the PC. I would like the skipped back-up job finished automatically when the drive get attached to the PC again. In Advanced settings I checked "Run when the current source device is attached" check box. This does not work.

What else should I do?

Tom

Tom, the Advanced setting "Run when the current source device is attached" appears to only work for USB Flash drives  and not for USB external disk drives, so this is probably why nothing is happening here.

I am not aware of any method of getting your skipped backup job to run automatically when the drive is attached again.

The only other thing that I can suggest is to use a Pre-Command batch file to check for the USB 3 HDD and to put out a message on the Desktop if it isn't found connected, to prompt you to connect it then 'press any key to continue the backup job'.

See webpage: Starting scheduled task by detecting connection of USB device that may offer you some further ideas that you could adapt to your situation.
