Backup to FTP server using Box
I've been trying to use backup to an FTP server using Box.com as the server. I can get the files to start, runs for hours (almost 20 in one case), it puts a few files up and then it stops finding them, and I have to kill the backup sesssion. ONce I stop the session the files htat have been uploaded get deleted, I presume by TI 2016.
I've tried file sizeds in .1G increments from 1.2 to 2.0 Gig.
The server is seeing TI log in, putting files on, ect and works with other FTP transfers with no issues.
I can't find anything in any forum that even talkes about FTP in 2016 other than configureation type things, which I'm 99% sure I have correct.
I can get 5mbps from my ISP for upload speed if that makes any differnece. However, I"m not seeing quite that on FTP transfer rates, thoes are closer to 3.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

The error you see is indicating that the connection has been lost to the server. You might try even smaller file sizes to see if that will help. You certainly do not have a robust upload speed and others whom have similar have posted similar issues. You might also try to ping the server and see if you are getting lost packets to the server. That would create a connection drop.
Does BOX have a recommended upload minimum speed?

There is not a minimum speed. I can upload files with an FTP clietnt up to 3 Gigs with no trouble, 10Gigs with the browswer interface. I'm trying 700meg files right now and they are failing as well. I'll try a ping and see if I have some thing going on. THanks for the idea.

No ping drops, 700 meg files have the same results.

I had a look at the Box site. It appears to me that they do not provide an FTP server site but rather an FTP alternative, in other words a solution to replace FTP. So, I am not sure what your problem is however, I am going to take a wild guess here and suggest that it may be possible that Box does not support the .tib file type which True Image creates thus you start your upload, after a bit the Box server being unable to identify the file type being recieved stops responding, and the connection then drops.
You might contact Box and see what file types they support and ask about this.

Box supports the files, they don't really care what kind of file is uploaded. I use FTP with Box all the time and have no issues. I managed to get 17 700 Meg files uploaded using TI and FTP then it all crashed again and dumped them. I don't think this is a box issue.

I don't think it is a Box issue either if they support the file type. I don't think the issue is True Image either as you state that you were successful in uploading a given amount of data before things went south on you.
My next suspect would be your ISP. They may have limits or other restrictions on uploads that are ultimately causing the connection to drop which by the way I think is the real problem here (connection drop). You should check with the ISP for any restrictions on their side and I would report also that dropped connections are causing you to experience problems in uploading and let them investigate the issue.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I should have unlimited transfer sustained, but maybe they are resetting the connection. Don't seam to have issues with streaming netflix or other services like that all the time, but I don't think they run sustained.
The main reason I think it might be a TI issue is I get the "I can't find the file" message from TI no matter how many retries I do. I've seen this issue with backing up to external drives over the years as well. Ussualy rebuilding the backup will help, but in this case it seams to not be helping. Shortning the directlry name did let me upload a lot more before it crashed.

Just for FYI the streaming of Netflix and such as that, works on the download side of your internet service which if limited is set to a maximum per month limit however, in most cases now such limits are pretty rare. What you are doing here is uploading data, the exact opposite of the above. That process may indeed have other or further restrictions. You might have some connection issue as well with your ISP that can only be resolved on their side.

David, do you have a Business or Enterprise contract with Box?
See: Using Box with FTP and also Box FTP Server where the latter states:
We recommend that no more than 150,000 files or 250GB of total data should be included in each FTP batch

ISP claims they have no restrictions. I"m not sure of the account type, I will check, but 250Gb per batch may be the issue. I'll have to look, but I think my backup batches are all much bigger than that. I'm manually uploading via FTP from my external hard drive backup. I ran one set to split at 4G (DVD) and have it going right now using File Zilla.
I'll let you all know how it goes and I"ll look closer at this other informaiton.
Thank you all so much for the help so far.
