Backup schedule issues

Thread needs solution

Has anyone ran into an instance where the backup schedule is set to incremental and instead of backing up once a day it is literally backing up every 11-15 minutes?

Background information, the application is attached to AD, is successfully retrieving authentication, is set to backup across the network after hours to a Synology NAS, the schedule has been set to back up daily, the scheme is set to incremental with a new full version after 6 days and retention is set to delete anything older than 7 days.

Unfortunately what is happening is that a few machines are backing up to frequently and they are killing the designated space on the NAS (16TB) over the course of a few days. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing after resetting the schedule and the problem persists on one machine for sure so far after a complete uninstall, reboot, and reinstall.

Jason, the behaviour that you are describing is typical of an error retry situation from what I have seen with other users in the forums.

I would recommend two things:

1. Download the Log File Viewer app and use this to check the logs for the backup tasks creating these additional backups.

2. Go into the Advanced settings page of the backup task and change the Error Handling options to increase the delay time before a retry is actioned - I would set the delay to either minutes or hours - it defaults to seconds!  Try setting the delay to say 2 hours and see if you still get additional incremental backups.
