Bootable Media doesn't recognize WD My Book
Just purchased a 4tB My Book for image storage.
Bootable Acronis media saw the drive, but didn't recognize it.
Turns out that WD has started formatting these as exFAT.
It seems that Linux and WinPE versions of the media don't support exFAT
Formatted my drive to NTFS and it works without any problems!

John, that formatting was done so the drive would be seen in both Mac's and PC's. Prior to that model release the drive came formatted as NTFS and if you wanted to use them in a Mac, you had to reformat them.
Seemed like a good idea at the time I guess? Anyway I bought one and attached it to a Windows Dell XPS PC. No problem with using it. However the next boot the PC hung with the Dell logo showing. I tried all sorts of things. Eventually I disconnected the drive and then the PC booted again? Turns out the Dell BIOS can't read that format either.
Not surprising other boot methods can't read the drive formatted by WD either?
