Hello all,
If you are experiencing issue with the update to the latest build (Update installation fails with the message "Access denied"), could you please check that
- anti-virus software is temporary disabled during installation procedure
- installation file has been downloaded completely
and send us Acronis System Report as a feedback prior any troubleshooting steps, so that we can find out the root cause of this issue. We would also need Process Monitor Log captured at the moment the error message comes. Please PM me directly, I will sent you detailed instructions on how to collect this log.
Thank you in advance for cooperation!

I am getting the Access Denied message on install. I have tried updating via web download and I downloaded the latest build, 6569. I ran as admin and have Norton disabled. If you can tell me what you need to see using Procmon, I can get that for you. I did run it during the install but the log file was 1.49gb. I am running Windows 10.

Hi Dale,
Could you send a PM directly to Ekaterina with your systm report and she should help with the Procmon process after that. Many thanks for helping to trouble shoot the issue!

Hello, I also have "Error details: Access is denied" during installation of Acronis True Image 2016 v6569.
I disable the antivirus (Avast), I check the file has been downloaded completely (digital signature is ok), I run the installer as Administrator (on Windows 8.1).
Still I get "Error details: Access is denied" during installation of Acronis True Image 2016 v6569.
The only reason I had to uninstall Acronis True Image 2016 in the first place is because when I tried to launch the software I would get an error popup message saying that I have to reboot the system (?). Even after a reboot (several reboots now) the software was still not accessible (but was still executing the scheduled daily system backups).
Please post a way around this installation error or an updated version of the software that would avoid this "Error details: Access is denied" during installation.
Now obvioulsy I don't have daily backups of my system anymore because the software is uninstalled and uninstallABLE...
Thank you!
Regards.

Olivia,
Haha! Thanks for the pun! It's not often some light heartedness is expressed here.
As for your issue, my guess is that your previous install/uninstall ended with some leftovers behind causing the issue. Another possibility is that of possibly a third party firewall or even Windows firewall itself causing the issue. You might try adding True Image to such software.
More than likely though you need to perform a complete uninstall of the product. Software such as Revo Uninstaller or CCleaner can do this or you can run the Acronis True Image cleanup tool to do so. Visit the link below for the tool and instructions on usage.

Hello and thank you for the removal tool idea !
After full removal (?) and reboot the installation still says "Error details: Access is denied". I was pretty optimistic about this one berk.
At some point the removal tool asks if I want to "remove extended capacity disks" : I say no because I don't want to screw anything further :) Maybe I should try this option too during removal ?
Also when I go to Windows Firewall > Allowed apps I have 8 instances of Acronis Sync Agent Service (all allowed on public and private networks) which is weird I guess.
Not sure what to do at all now...
Regards.

Olivia, you should not need to be concerned about the option to 'remove extended capacity disks' as this refers to an Acronis utility that was used in cases where the filesystem or OS did not support the size of disk drive being installed and the utility enabled the extended capacity of the drive, beyond that normally supported, to be recognised and used.
Do you have any other security programs active besides Avast that you mentioned? Any antimalware, anti-spyware or anti-ransomware programs?
If so, please try disabling these too.
Perform a clean install of ATIH 2016
First uninstall the program via the Control Panel (or use an uninstaller such as Revo).
Run the Acronis Cleanup Tool (link in my signature below), then restart the computer.
Note: The KB document for the Cleanup Tool refers to checking for entries in the Windows registry - I have ignored this step on the occasions I have used it with no detriment, though if making changes to the registry, I stronly advise either exporting the registry before the change(s), or create a System Restore point, or image the drive for protection.
Reinstall the ATIH software (download a fresh copy from your Acronis Account if needed or if you don't have the latest build version installer). Run the install as an Administrator (right-click on the installer to take this option).

Hello and thank you for the ideas !
Unfortunately after doing the whole thing (again) the installation still says "Error details: Access is denied".
During removal I said no to 'remove extended capacity disks'
and I have no antimalware, anti-spyware or anti-ransomware programs other than Avast that has been disabled during install.
I'm getting used to the idea of not having Acronis anymore ; it was nice while it lasted (like one month) and I still have my system backup in case of need ; hopefully NEVER :)
Thank your again for your help.
Regards.

Olivia,
Not sure what is preventing the install - most likely a permissions issue on a locked file or service, but may be hard to identify.
You can always use your offline bootable recovery media to take images (to keep your system image more up to date) too. This is completely outside of Windows and load from the bootable recovery media. Hopefully you had the chance to already make it and test it out. If not, you can grab the .iso download from your online account and burn it to disc or use a tool like Rufus to create a bootable USB flash drive instead.

Hello Olivia,
I would recommend contacting Acronis Support directly on this matter if you cannot get past the Access denied error.
See post 18623: How to get Technical Support: Tips, Tricks and Useful Information
Also please refer to post #2 in this forum thread where Ekaterina wrote:

I would also suggest sending a PM to Ekaterina to advise her of your feedback + System Report being sent in.

Hello again and thank you all for your help.
I found the previous version of the Acronis installer (v6027 from a month ago ; the one I installed originally before trying to update to v6569) and it totally works/installs, no question asked, without any trick.
So to sum it up I have :
Acronis True Image 2016 v6027 : installation is totally ok.
Acronis True Image 2016 v6569 : installation fails and says "Error details: Access is denied".
Thank you again and I'll just keep going with lovely v6027 :)
If someone here knows how to bring this info to Acronis devs they are welcome so we might help other people who might be in that same situation with v6569 (? or is this mess specific to my system ? who knows and who really wants to know ?).
Regards.

Hey, if 6027 is working now, could you uninstall with control panel and run the clean tool and then try 6569 using the download from your account to see if that does it?
Understand if don't want to, but now that the app is installed as 6027, hopefully whatever was locked is fixed adn removing it first and then installing 6569 "Fresh" may be doable now. Unfortunately, no way for me to test since I can't replicate the issue, so it's up to you if you want to try or not.

Hello,
so I tried to install 6569 and now I get "Error details: The specified service has been marked for deletion".
I then installed 6027 and it worked and will stay like that.
Thanks all for your help ; I am personnaly done with this Acronis update story :)
Regards.
