Can’t restore a file from a 2016 backup?
A co-worker is using TI2016 on a Win8.1 system. Someone deleted a file on her system and she was trying to restore it. I use 2016 on Windows 7 and showed her how to click on the .TIB file and it opens like explore and you can find the file and copy it back.
It wouldn’t work for her so I tried it. Clinking on the backup file does nothing, no error messages or anything. Trying to restore the file after starting the program; it keeps giving a message about not being able to find the set (I don’t remember exactly what it said”).
She did say that instead of deleting old backup within the software she just deleted them (I assume that’s the issue). However, she is doing incremental with a full every (x) amounts of time. She has the last full back up with the incrementals that were done since it.
Is there a way to recover the file she wants?

Incremental backups rely on ALL backups in the same version chain. Manually deleting files in the backup chain is a no-no, but especially detrimental to the incremental backup scheme. A full backup should/will always be usable, but if you delete incremental 1 in a chain, then 2 through the end are useless at that point and there's no fixing that.
Assuming she has all backups in the chain, she should right.-click on the last incremental backup file in Windows Explorer and "validate" it. If all files exist and validation completes, hopefully she can then restore files from it.
One other note, there is a hotfix for incrementals that may not open correctly if they are indeed a good backup with all files named properly and in the correct location. Sometimes, you just need to clear the .tib mounter cache, reboot and try double clicking the file again. https://forum.acronis.com/forum/117232#comment-359062
She could also try right clicking the .tib file and "mount" it (assuming all files are where they are supposed to and the backup validates).
