Cloing procedure
Pardon me if I sound lame here...but I have questions about how to clone a drive.
I'm using True Image 2016. Windows 10. Desktop machine. My hard drive is making loud spinning noises. So I'm assuming it is going to die soon. I plan to replace it with a new HD and use the cloning function in True Image to replicate the drive to a new drive.
My question is, how to I set up the target drive. Do I:
1) install the drive into my PC and then clone the drives? If so, how do I map things so that my programs see the new drive as the C: drive?
2) Clone the drive to the Acronis Cloud and then clone it to the new drive? If so, do I need another subscription to Acronis Cloud? Or, can I clone it to some other cloud drive, such as Google Drive...where I already have a subscription.
3) is there some other recommended way to connect the two drives to allow the cloning to take place?
Go easy on me, please.

As usual, "the" tuttle is providing excellent advice. Please do as suggested!
Unfortunately cloning can go badly wrong. Creating a backup and then restoring it to new HDD/SSD is the safest way to approach the problem.
