Clone Disk Problem
I was using the clone disk tool in ATI 2016 on two disks that were both unencrypted. Because there was another bitlocker disk on my system (that had NOTHING to do with either the source or the target of the clone), the Windows ATI 2016 tool refused to do the clone.
I had to do it from boot mode instead.
Not sure that this makes any sense to me.
Can this be fixed?

Thanks for your reply. However, I'm not trying to manage, copy, clone, or do anything else with Bitlocker partitions.
I was trying to clone a standard partition to another standard unallocated space. Nothing to do with Bitlocker.
BUT, since I have other Bitlocker disks on my system, ATI 2016 got upset and told me it couldn't be done from within windows, and I had to do it via ATI 2016 boot. I did it that way and it was fine, but honestly, I see no reason it couldn't have been done from within windows?

Restore and clone operations should NOT be started from Windows. I know, I know, the product supports or tries to support this, but frankly I'd prefer it didn't. Although it works on many configurations, it is probably the main reason users are showing up on this forum...

Pat, sorry, but that is BS - if this was not supposed to work, the function would not be available in the product.

Thomas,
Sorry but that is incorrect, System disks Cloning requires the use of Recovery Media to insure that corruption does not occur during the process. Other data disks can be cloned from within Windows thus why the feature is available there.

Okay, then we're all on the same page here and there seems to be an issue with software. I think we all agree that system disk cloning should occur using the recovery media.
I was trying to use the Windows Clone function to clone non-system non-bitlocker disks and ATI 2016 didn't allow me because it saw the presence of another unrelated Bitlocker volume.
So, can Acronis address this?

David,
Possibly, the app scans all attached disks during startup looking for backup archives. That process may interfere with the clone function so it is possible that may be addressed. I would suggest that you use the builtin Feedback feature of the app to report the issue. You can find Feedback in the Help section (book Icon) of the GUI. This is the best way to report problems to Acronis.
