Copy Image to bootable USB media?

Thread needs solution

Does Acronis True Image 2016 have the ability to copy the image of your computer to a USB flash drive that was used to create a bootable restore drive?  Since my entire backup image was around 40GB, It would be nice to be able to copy that file to a USB drive that is bootable. Instead of booting to another USB first then once Acronis loads having to place another USB with the image file to read from.

You can create a bootable USB stick for Acronis True Image 2016 using the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media Builder tool that is included with the application, this will copy all the required files to the USB media (approx 500MB for the WinPE Rescue Media).

Once the media is created you could simply just copy your system image across to the same USB media, assuming you have sufficient free space to do so, then when you use the USB drive to boot, you should be able to navigate to where the system image is stored and select it to recovery the system.

Hi BForbes,

The option Steve is telling you about applies to "Removable storage" disks only. (Most high capacity disks are recongnized by the OS as a "Fixed drive" and thus it won't be possible to make such a disk bootable).

So I would recommend to use separate drives for this.
