Creating a Universal Restore
I may be a bit dense but after reading and going through the Universal Restore I'm completely baffeled at setting it up properly. My intent is to replicate an older computer's system on a much newer computer. They actually have the same OS (Win 7 Pro 64) but very different hardware. My hope is to transfer the programs and settings over to minimize the work of getting everything the same. They both have similar hardware and drive orientations.
Is this possible and if so is there an easy to understand step by step example to follow? The manual leaves me scratching my head. To be honest even though I make weekly full backups of my systems I have yet had to try using them to restore any computer. Lucky I guess. This however is an observatory control telescope system and the programs are many as is the hardware, added serial cards, COM port assignments, and so on. I'd really like to try to do this if possible to save days of work starting from scratch.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks Steve.
I did find some online videos on YouTube but got caught up in other pressing events and just getting back to this project. Goal now is to get the system transferred and tested, then if sucessful, upgrade to Windows 10 and see how the observatory equipment works. New OS's always present challanges for older equipment and astronomy equipment is very slow in embracing the newer technology hence the serial connections.
