Since Fall Creators Update Acronis 2016 won't work with vss

I manage several machines running Acronis 2016.  Since Fall Creators Update all have failed to backup on schedule.  Backup hangs at initiation.  Determined that I had to disable vss in each backup script (vss="false") in order for backups to run.  Just fyi.

Rob, welcome to these User Forums and thanks for sharing your findings.

I haven't seen other users reporting similar problems and the Fall Creator's Update has been out for a couple of weeks now, but it may be that this 2016 Forum has been quiet on the subject so far.

I haven't had any issues myself with running either the 2017 or 2018 versions of ATI on Windows 10 1709 (FCU) and using VSS (as default settings).

I was just searching on google for this and this is my problem to.

I'm using Acronis True Image 2017, and today is the backup day. But each time it starts it says;

"The last backup has been stopped. It will be restarted at 11:30

The backup location was not found on the destonation drive. Make sure the correct storage device is connected to the computer."

I'm new to all this backing up so I'm not sure what to do?! What about my previous backups? Why can't it access them? The external drive I'm using is active and available. There should be no reason why it can't see it.

Edit: Ok, I figured out I had to re-select the drive for some reason, and now its seeing the previous backups.

Gavin, it is often required to reselect either the source or destination locations after any major Windows update.  The Fall Creators Update 1709 is such an update as evidenced by the new Windows.OLD folder created by the update in the C: root folder.  The reason here is that disk / partition identifiers can change when MS creates the new Recovery partition on the drive.

ahhh.. I wasn't sure. I'm glad I got it working again.

Thank you for replying Steve.
