HDD not Reading DATA

Thread needs solution

The issue is the image is created without issues but when I click on the Tib file within windows explorer it takes me to the back up then when i click on C drive it says the folder is empty. This HDD is a old Laptop HDD 2.5  which I re-Partioned and formated it prior to using as an external drive to use with Acronis. When I use a Desktop HDD 3.5 everything works. I'm able to see all my data. Any Suggestions?

Devin, welcome to these User Forums.

If this problem only happens with this single old laptop 2.5" HDD and not with other drives that you use, then the issue has to be with the drive itself.

Try going to the HDD drive manufacturer support website and downloading any diagnostic tools that they provide to do a thorough test of the drive.

See the Troubleshooting section of this KB document for a list of common support tools.

2) Dedicated diagnostic utilities from the disk manufacturers take the longest time to complete the checks, but provide the most accurate methods of checking whether the disk is good or needs replacement:

 - Western Digital drives: Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows

 - Seagate disks: SeaTools for Windows

 - HGST disks: HGST Windows Drive Fitness Test (WinDFT)

 - Intel SSDs: Intel Solid State Drive Toolbox

 - Samsung drives: Samsung Magician

 - ADATA drives: ADATA SSD ToolBox

 - Kingston SSDs: Kingston SSD ToolboxKingston SSD Manager

 - Transcend SSDs: Transcend SSD Scope

 - Silicon Power disks: SP ToolBox

 - Toshiba disks: Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tool Utility

i have done diagnostic on the drive and it works perfectly. I have data on it from other sources and have no issue accessing the files. When I backup to this drive it backups with no issue but when i goto read the data using explorer i can see the tib file, then when i click on it, it shows the partitions, . then once I click the drive letter C: it says folder is empty. also when I select properties and see how much of drive space it used, it shows 100GB so i know the data is there its just not displaying it.

How is the drive connected here?  The only time I have heard of similar issues has been when the .tib file was located on a remote network drive.
