How To Encrypt Images

Thread needs solution

There used to be a "Encrypt" link here but it's gone.  How can I get it show up again so I can encrypt my backups?

Click on options in the lower left corner of your screenshot.  Encryption is on the last "advanced" tab of the backup task.

You have to select encryption when creating the task.  Once the task has run, you cannot go back and "encrypt" it.  You will have to create a new task.

How can I tell if a backup has been successfully encrypted?

I don't see encryption in the advanced tab.  Please see screenshot.

bc007, FTRPilots post above is accurate.  Unfortunately, once encryption is selected (or not), it's tied to the backup job and cannot be modifed.  You can start a new backup task and encrypt it - be sure to use the password you want as you won't be able to change it either.  After an encrypted backup is run, you can verify it is encrypted by trying to double click the backup or mount it. You should be presented with a password field needed to unlock the backup and once it is entered, you should then be able to view the content within it.

Bobbo_3C0X1 - I can't encrypt backups because I don't have encryption in the advanced tab.  =(

Not even when you create a new backup task from scratch?

Even when I create a new backup from scratch, there is no Encryption option in the Advanced tab.

Can you upload a screenshot so I can see what you see for the Encryption option?

See attached - this is from 2017 beta, but it looks the same in 2016.

I don't have this option.  See attached file.

This doesn't look like a new task to me.  If it was a new task, you should also have the option to select compression level and the operation priority under the performance tab.  Your sreenshot only shows the compression level now which suggests that this is an existing task where a backup has already run (or was perhaps imported).  Once a task has been set and a backup run, there is no way to change the encryption type or the **edit - piriority**  type again.  These are really the only two options you can't change after a backup has run and since both are not available, I'd have to say you're trying to modify an existing backup task and you would need to create a new backup task from scratch and set those settings before a backup is run with that task.

If you truly are creating a brand new backup task from scratch and not seeing either option (which I have not heard from anyone else, you may have a corrupted install and should consider removing the entire application with the cleantool and reinstall from scratch.
