Hello Charly,

Thank you for your posting! Unfortuantely it's not possible to set or change the password for an existing backup.

Charly - you may want to consider folder encryption in Windows (not bitlocker) as an alternative:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/encrypt-decrypt-folder-file#…

Just be sure to remember your password because once it's encrypted, only you can ever decrypt it.  Also, the folder must be decrypted manually first, before running any new backup jobs to it.  Othwerise, I'd suggest just encrypting your existing backups this way (for security) and creating new ones to another folder and encrypting the backup files within Acronis to begin with.

Charly,

It is possible to change the properties of the .tib files to "read only" using Windows explorer.   This would protect against accidental deletions and possibly protect against some malware attacks.

Hi FtrPilot

Charly,

I run ATI 2016 from a separate account.  It is the only account on my computer that has admin privileges.  So, if I am using my normal (non admin) account, or my wife is using the computer, user control will popup a message requesting admin password if I, my wife, or any malware tries to delete or corrupt the tib files.
