Major issue with nonstop backup

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

I have a major issue with TI 2016 and nonstop backup which is twofold:

1. Every few days the computer will be fine and then all of a sudden it will lock up HARD out of the blue and you can't do anything except hold the power button until it shuts off.  It then reboots fine and the cycle continues.  It didn't do this before TI 2016 was installed.

2. I can't take TI 2016 off of nonstop backup.  Changing the backup schedule has no effect.

Matthew,

Personally, I don't recommend NSB.  I understand what it's for and how it should work. However, the forums seem to show that it is not stable yet and there are actually many limitations of NSB (must recover from the Windows application, all backups from the last 24 hour consolidate into one backup and you can only recover from that point in time when that happens... same thing happens each week as well).  Also the backup can be resource intensive because it is running all day long and scanning every 5 minutes.

If stopping NSB is not working and/or you can't delete the task.  I would recommend uninstalling ATIH 2016, run the cleanup tool in my signature, REBOOT, download the latest ATIH2016 installer from your Acronis account, run the installer by right clicking and choosing "run as administrtor" and relicense it after it has been installed.

Then, setup all new backup jobs/tasks, using another backup scheme.  Incrementals can be just as effective as NSB (although not quite as frequent - 2 hours is the soonest for a single job, but you can create multiple jobs and offset the times to have them run more often if you need backups more frequently).

Using Acronis Nonstop Backup

I suggest looking at the incremental and/or custom schemes with cleanup as I think you'll be happier with them in the long run.

Custom schemes

I still don't use it :)

Have you tried creating a new backup task?  You cannot modify a NSB to another backup scheme.  I suggest stopping the backup and creating a new backup scheme using inc or dif for the time being and removing NSB and see if that removes your performance issues and allows the other backup to run.

You'd have to provide a lot more informaiton for any in depth trouble shooting.  We know nothing about your setup, what your Acronis Service logs show, what your Windows System logs show, what OS, what hardware, etc. It's kind of like you telling a mechanic your car won't start, but not providing any other information - it's harder when there's no access to the computer to validate or check things either so you have to do the legwork and provide details to the forum.

It was causing some major lockup issues in my case.  do you know if anything has been resolved yet?

Matthew, please open a support ticket with Acronis to check on the status of this issue with NSB - one of the recent changes introduced by Acronis is to offer ATIH 2016 users the same support period as given to 2017 users, that is you now get 2 years from date of purchase instead of only 30 days as before.

Like Rob advised previously, I too do not use NSB (never had a need for this).

This may be a stupid question, but what's the URL is open up a support ticket?
