moving backups to new drive and keeping create dates

Thread needs solution

I am moving backups to a new and larger external drive.  I want to retain the file create date when I do.  If I use the Acronis UI to move the files, it changes the date of the file.

What is the procedure to use for retaining the creation date of the file when moving them?  If there is no way to do this through the user interface, what tool do I use in Windows 10 to move the files and keep the dates?

Marjorie, if you move your backups to a new larger external drive, then the file creation dates will not matter as each of your drives has a unique drive identifier UUID which is registered in the Acronis database for the backup task that created these backup archive files.

To do what you are planning, you should just copy all the backup files to the new drive, then in the Acronis GUI delete only the settings for the backup tasks (not the full backup - settings and files).

Next, use the option to Add existing backups and select the latest backup file from your new larger drive.  Doing this will still require you to reconfigure the backup settings.

Alternatively, you could take the option to Clone the settings for the current backup task(s), then point the cloned backup task at the new external drive.
