NAS storage not found when trying to restore image.
Hi, I have just tried to restore from an image stored in a Synology NAS 2413. The image is complete and accessible via windows however when trying to restore, the Acronis boot programme does not accept the network location as valid. I believe that the boot programme only recognises local attached storage and does not download the relevant drivers to allow access to storage connected with router and ethernet connection. I have True Image Home 2016 and have stored all images on the NAS and back up was completed under Acronis 2011 directly to the NAS so please can someone explain how to access the images using the version that I have just purchased to restore my system please? It is only when you really need to restore an image and cannot, that you realise that your disaster recovery routine is absolutely useless and the reassurance that I have put in Acronis is totally misplaced!
Thanks in advance for any assistance that you can offer.

I remember another thread where it was mentioned that the offline bootable recovery media does not authenticate to NAS devices directly and WinPE was required instead.
If Stephen could download the Windows 10 ADK in install first (assuming he's using Acronis 2016 on the machine and not 2011 now), then create WinPE with the Acronis media builder, that should solve the connectivity problem. HOWEVER, keep in mind that WinPE also has a limitation and mapped drives need to be connected using netuse commands first. This is accomplished by minimizing the Acronis gui window to reveal the command prompt in the background. Then use this command (tweaked for your NAS device) and when prompted for credentials, be sure to enter them:
net use s: \\NASIP\NASshare
(enter actual NAS ip address and the full share path - often times you cannot map directly to the root of the NAS device because it is READ only and/or not shared out).
when prompted for credentials, enter the nas name and user name such as
wd-mycloud\myusername
Although Acronis 2011 backups are not supported in 2016, if this is all being done with the offline recovery media, and outside of Windows, chances are, you'll be able to use the 2016 recovery media to complete the restore. I think most of the limitaitons with backwards compatibility are directly within Windows, but I have not personally mixed and matched beyond 2015-207.
