non stop backup will not delete

I had a non stop backup running for a while but decided not to use it any longer. I deleted it, but it never goes away. I aways have the red dot next to the backup tab. None of the backups indicate any problem, but the non-stop backup is there. It won't go away. I've tried disabling the non-stop backup service, restarting the PC, still won't delete. The Time Explorer Stoprage folder is gone as is the cdp.metadata file.

Thank you. That was a timely post for me as I had a similar problem. I'm not sure what you mean when you say "disable it as a service completely". Can the entry in Computer Management/../Services be deleted.
For some reason the NSB seemed to have worked but there was no entry in the target location. When I tried to run it the following morning I found that it had been converted to a scheduled task.

Thank You Bobbo, this worked for me.

If you right click the service in question, go to properties, change the startup type to "disabled"

Thank you again Bobbo. I did try to setup NSB again but have now given up and followed your advice.

I have the same problem as RandyR but I don't have a 'Scripts' file, or any folder C:\ProgramData at all. The nonstop backup used to work, but no longer. Short of the clean install, any recommendations (apart from deleting the whole package?)

Nicolas, welcome to these User Forums.
You will definitely have the C:\Program Data\ folder structure if you are using Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 but these folders are normally hidden from users, so you will need to change the File Explorer view settings to allow hidden/system files to be shown.

Thank for the prompt and helpful reply. You are correct about the hidden status and I could find it immediately once I set the view to include hidden files and folders. (I should have thought of that myself!) Again, thanks.

I found another possible solution. Backup the settings then unschedule all backups, do whatever you have to do and then import the backup settings. I haven't tried it yet as I have no need at the moment, but it sounds like it would work.

Thank you for help. The Script file deletion of the trouble nonstop backup appears to have worked. I'll keep this suggestion around as it may be worth trying at some point.
